The Australasian Gold & General Mining Industry Remuneration Report has been published biannually since July 1988. The last Australasian Gold & General Mining Industry Remuneration Report was published in October 2011 - 155 companies managing 200 mining operations participated. This sets a record for the number of participating organisations in the survey’s 24 year history.
The survey & report cover 210 positions from Chairman of the Board, through corporate & site management to operators & support personnel.
In the October 2011 edition, there is a new section providing salary ranges according to the type of roster worked plus new sections dealing with attraction & retention plan payments.
The purpose of the Report is to provide the Directors, Remuneration Committees and Executive Management of participating organisations with factual data and reliable analyses of the remuneration of key personnel. The report focuses on metalliferous and other mining including Gold, Base Metals, PG metals, Cobalt / Nickel, Uranium & Salt mining operations. It analyses the impact of factors such as operation size, gross revenue, operating budgets, working hours and shift patterns on remuneration and identifies emerging remuneration trends in the mining and resources industry.
The survey is the largest and most comprehensive in the Australian mining industry.
Scope of the Survey
Set out below is a summary of the scope of the Australasian Gold & General Mining Industry Remuneration Report:
- it covers Executive and Corporate as well as exploration, operations staff and traditional “award” positions;
- it covers the gold and metalliferous mining industry;
- it reports on Base Salary, Total Fixed Remuneration (including the value of benefits such as motor vehicles & superannuation) and Total Variable Remuneration (showing the impact of incentives);
- for executive roles, it investigates the value of share-based awards & other long term incentives;
- for all positions, it reports on attraction & retention plan payments;
- it measures market movements during the past 6 and 12 months for matched samples of companies for each position; and,
- it provides a detailed analysis of practices in respect of incentives (both actual & target) and benefits.
