Remuneration Surveys - Papua New Guinea (PNG) National Staff

The second PNG National Staff Remuneration Report was published in May 2011 - 14 companies managing 18 operations participated. The next Report will be published in the first week of May 2012. The survey group is broad, representing metalliferous mining, mining contractor and exploration companies as well as upstream and downstream oil & gas producers. Both commute (fly-in / fly-out & drive-in / drive-out) and residential operations contributed to the survey

The purpose of the PNG National Staff Resources Industry Remuneration Report is to provide the management of participating organisations with reliable data and clear analyses of the remuneration of key personnel in the resources industry.

Scope of the Survey

Set out below is a summary of the scope of the Report:

  • it covers exploration, engineering, operations, maintenance as well as administration & support roles;
  • it covers exploration & mining and oil & gas industries;
  • it reports on Base Salary, Total Fixed Remuneration (including the value of benefits such as health insurance & superannuation) and Total Variable Remuneration (showing the impact of incentives);
  • it measures market movements during the past 12 months for matched samples of companies for each position; and,
  • it provides a detailed analysis of practices in respect of incentives and benefits.
