Quality
For McDonald & Company (Australasia), quality has three aspects. Firstly, it refers to the process of ensuring that roles in your organisation are correctly matched to the benchmark roles in our survey. Secondly, it refers to the process of ensuring that the data which are collected from you and reported by us are accurate and comprehensive. Thirdly, it refers to the process of ensuring that participating organisations have a formal venue and opportunity to have input into the evolution and development of the survey and reports.
Roles vary between organisations and it is critical that the matching criteria (eg responsibilities and skills) are reviewed to ensure we are matching appropriately and consistently (“comparing apples with apples”). To increase the reliability of position matching the following process is employed:
- A current Position Description Booklet describing the surveyed roles and specifying the matching criteria is sent to participants prior to the initial matching and each subsequent review;
- We personally meet with you to discuss the position matches and ensure that a consistent frame of reference is being applied to matching;
- only if both you and our consultant are satisfied that a position has been correctly matched will it be included in the survey; and, he Position Description Booklet is regularly reviewed to ensure that the range of roles surveyed and the matching criteria remain relevant.
- If you have participated in our survey previously, we will send you a Feedback Report (FBR) which is a summary of the data previously supplied by you to us for your review;
- we personally meet with you to discuss the position matches and to collect remuneration data; otherwise we will carry out this process by another means of communication (eg email or phone)
- we will enter the data into our system on your behalf and we will send you a Feedback Report (FBR) so that you can verify our input; and,in the Report you receive from us your own data are identified so that you can verify your organisation’s position in the market.
- Our resources industry is constantly evolving. Organisations, the structure of work and roles change to meet those needs. Issues arise that provide opportunities and pose challenges to organisations in how to employ their human resources most effectively. Each year we hold a Users’ Meeting which has the following aims:
- identify and agree improvements to the Report;
- provide a forum for discussing human resources issues in the resources industry; and,provide a venue for networking.
- Meeting is complimentary for Report subscribers. It is held in conjunction with the annual conference of the Australian Mines & Metals Association (Inc) so that attendees get the benefit of two conferences for one outlay on travel expenses.
To be relevant the survey data must be accurate and comprehensive. To increase the accuracy and comprehensiveness of remuneration data the following process is employed:
